Craft Fair and Catching up :)

So I had a Craft Fair This Past Weekend.. I’m not even sure where to start.. hmm Let just say that it wasn't what I was hoping it would be.

Starting with the entry free, It took me a long time to actually answer the ladies back and sign up for it due to how much it was going to cost me and I wasn't sure I was going to make that money back. Anyways Long story short, this was my first and Last Fair that I paid that much for. I don't mind sharing a booth with a fellow crafter that would be complete different story.

I understand how things are and that sometimes it doesn't go as planned. I did complain but Unfortunately no money back (Which I’m ok with since I did make a little bit of money). Well after all the efforts I put in it and money spent to get everything set up I didn't end up with much profit.. But again I’m ok with it, The reason that is I met 3 Wonderful Ladies who ended up in the same boat and after talking and hanging out the whole day I feel Like I’ve meat great new friends :)  We are also working on something very exciting and I cant Wait to share it with everyone!!

For Now I’m Just giving you some advise:

*******************************************************

1. Always do research on a Craft Show before signing up!

2. If it’s a first Time show for the company make sure that they are doing lots of Advertising.

3. Never Pay More than $60.00 for a booth ( Unless you Know its a talked about show and Lots of People will be showing up).

4. If you really want to sign up for a great show that you know does good every time but the fee is too much , Try sharing a booth with a Crafting buddy! ( Make sure you are not competing or else that wont work out ).

*****************************************************

Here are some Photos of my Set up :

(not my best set up but it worked)

Featured Seller : Doyle Jewellery Design!

Hello Everyone :)!! It’s time for another Great Interview!

I was browsing thru Blogs and I stumbled Upon: Doyle Jewellery Design

Her blog is Just too Cute, And her product are Just Beautiful!

So Here is her Interview, and I hope you guys Enjoy it as much as I did :)

**********************************************************

1. Shops name? How did you come up with it?
Doyle Jewellery Design... I wanted a name that was short and easily remembered so I decided to keep it simple and went with my own name

2. What got you interested in Creating what you do?
I am a self taught artist and have followed artistic pursuits most of my life. I like to try new crafts all the time, and a few years ago I couldn't find a necklace to go with an outfit I had, so I decided to make one, and it has basically taken off from there.

3. Tell us about your unique designs and materials you use?
I like to combine different elements of jewellery/accessory making together to see what will happen, and my designs are very much inspired by nature- I am lucky to live in one of Irelands most beautiful counties- you can't beat it for scenery! Materials I use range from Swarovski crystal, to simple glass beads, to lustrous pearls and earthy gemstones. I also make nearly all of my own headbands with a wire that is a bit softer than the more rigid metal ones so that they can be worn comfortably all day with no headaches.

4. What would you say distinguishes you or sets you apart from many of the sellers out there?
I believe that my latest beaded flower designs (as seen in the latest photos on my blog) are unique to me- I have not seen anything like them anywhere else as yet, but I stand corrected if someone has!
What makes makes me stand apart... Different projects require different ways of thinking, as every bride (or non bride) is different and each will have their own requirements, and you can't apply the same set of rules to every person. I am not afraid to step outside the box and combine different elements of jewellery making, and also, I think when you design for a specific person you have to be able to work with what they like/dislike, and I think I manage that very well.

5. If you had to pick a favorite Item on your shop, what would it Be?
Oh that has to be my latest bridal project as it combines lots of different elements of jewellery making and it was a challenge as everything had to tie in with the design on the bodice of the brides dress- you can see it on my blog www.doylejewellerydesign.blogspot.com  - its the latest post.

6.Tell us something Random we don't know about you?
Something you don't know about me... one day I want to have a wee cottage by the sea where I will be able to hear the song of the waves sing me to sleep every night.

7.What Product would you like to promote on my blog?
Well, all of my products are custom made so I would like to promote the fact that if you like what you see on my blog and would like me to make something for you- please don't hesitate to contact me through the email address on my blog. I will design and make for anyone, anywhere and I don't charge a fortune for shipping either!

8.Any Advice For New Sellers?
New sellers- you are coming onto the market in tough times. My advice to you would be to know your target market inside out, and promote, promote, promote! Because if you don't, no one will know you are there. It is hard work getting a new business off the ground but if you persevere with your efforts it is soooo worth it- you can't beat the satisfaction of knowing you are doing something you love every day, and have the bonus of getting paid for it!

9.Promotions going on?
I will give 10% off to anyone who orders from me as a result of reading this interview. All you have to do is email me through the address on the blog and quote BrazilJD09!

10.What is your definition of ‘wearable art?”
My definition of wearable art... well many people have all kinds of opinions on the definition of art. Collins dictionary and thesaurus defines art as ''skill, craft, expertise, ingenuity, mastery, virtuosity.''
To me, art is something that you think of, you make it- with your own hands- from start to finish. In the case of the jewellery/hair accessories, I design them, I make them, I baby them...from start to finish, with my own hands... therefore making it wearable art :-)

*******************************************************

Again Thanks Jen ! And if you are reading this Blog dont Forget That she will give you 10%off  on her Product if you use the code: BrazilJD09 !!

Now as Always if you like to be interviewed Either email: braziliansparadise@hotmail.com  or Comment on here!!

Thanks

Featured Seller: Meatbagz

Hello Everyone,
Welcome to our Blog! I’m Proud to Announce that from Now on I will Be Featuring A great Seller on here :) So be in the Look out for it!
Today We are starting with : Meatbagz
Before I post their Interview I just Want to Say how Great their Products are! and Mack & Kate I wish you both the Best :)

******************************************************
1. Shops name? How did you come up with it? How long have you been on etsy?

Our shop's name is "meatbagz". how we came up with it? well, that's just sort of what happens when we get together. we're Mackenzie and Kate, a couple of stay at home moms who have been best friends for longer than we can practically remember, and we both have kind of off beat senses of humor. we were discussing how great it is that people are using non-plastic bags for shopping now, but how boring is it to carry around a plain canvas bag (or worse-one advertising some big chain)? we didn't want to be walking billboards, but we did want quirky and fun bags to carry our food around in...and meatbagz was born. we thought it was a hilarious name and idea, so before you knew it we had animal based meatbagz, vegetable based meatbagz, and plain old whimsical meatbagz. we've been on etsy for almost a year now and what started out as something just for fun has turned into a few sales, craft shows, and selling them in local shops!

2. What got you interested in Creating what you do?

Well, like i said, it pretty much started with our sense of humor, but we've had a lot of fun growing into the "business". we started doing iron on transfers onto plain canvas bagz and now screen print our images by hand onto a variety of bagz and even sell them in stores in a couple of different states!

3. Tell us about your unique designs and materials you use?

Our designs are all about looking at regular things in a new (and fun) way. love artichokes? well, eat your heart out! a lot of the time our designs are based on the images themselves...like our awesome "off with their heads" rooster. he just looked so angry and so superior once we put his crown on his tagline just came to us! as for materials, we're trying to work towards being as green and environmentally friendly as we can. we're in the process of investigating recycled/organic bagz, but at the moment we still feel pretty good about using unbleached canvas totes and the new pigment dyed field bagz and messenger bagz that are currently in our shop. they're great bagz, and we refuse to sell anything that we ourselves wouldn't be excited to have or use.

4. What would you say distinguishes you or sets you apart from many of the sellers out there?

Our sense of humor, of course!

5. If you had to pick a favorite Item on your shop, what would it Be?

My favorite would probably be our "off with their heads" field bag, followed closely by the teal "cuts of possibility" flying pig.

6.Tell us something Random we don't know about you?

We dream about being able to do this for a living once all of our kids are in school in a few years, so we have the perfect excuse to hang out together during the day instead of going out and finding "real" jobs.

7.What Product would you like to promote on my blog?

Come and Check this cute Field Bag on their Shop:

8.Any Advice For New Sellers?

Don't undersell yourself (or your products).we were surprised how people were actually willing to pay a little extra for something unique and handmade. for a long time we were afriad to charge the amount that meant we actually made a profit, but having dealt with customers face to face at craft fairs we see that people appreciate the effort put into our products and are okay with our prices!

9.Promotions going on?

Mention that you saw this on the blog in the notes to seller and we'll give you free shipping!

10. what's your favorite thing about etsy?

Definitely how inspiring it is to see everyone's amazing shops and work. we're continually impressed with the ideas and talent of other etsians, and are proud that it's such a great community to be a part of!

Little Bit More about Me ...

Hello!

Okay so I've had this blog for a little While now..

But I feel like I need to introduce myself once again :)

So here we go:

1. Getting Personal:

My Name is Karina, but people Call me Kari or Nina for Short.

I'm originally from Brazil, but moved here with my mom and Sister after my Parents divorced.

I was 13 when I moved to Utah, I started going to school and After that My plan was to go Back to Brazil. Well all that changed once I met my Hubby.

I decided to get to know him,We got married on august 5Th 2005 a month after Graduation!

And have been madly in Love since! I cant wait to see what the future brings us!(PS: No kids yet).

2. About the Company:

I've always been the creative one in the Family,Doing Crafts,Dancing,Painting and Jewelry Making.. So After Visiting Brazil last April , I had this great idea to start Brazilians Paradise!

Fast Forward 1 year Latter and I couldn't be happier!

3. The Name:

Well This is a though one! I was sitting on craft table Thinking about names, when I decided to make a list of things That Make me Happy:

-Jewelry

-Handbags

-Shoes

-The Beach

-Traveling

-Chocolate!!

And the list went on..

So I knew I had to use the name "Brazilian" and somehow Incorporate all these words together... Thus came "Paradise" So I added those 2 words together and That's What Brazilians Paradise Is all about!

4. What Inspires you to Create?

Can I just Say Music has To be a big part of it! When I turn on my Radio I can forget all my worries and Focus on what matters at the time!

Brazilian Reggae Calms me down ... Gotta love that
The Beach,Birds,The Outdoors,My Hubby ...
The other thing I would have to say is seeing how my Fellow Internet Buddies are doing! It makes me want to be like them :)
More to come :)!!
Thanks
Karina
